Best SmartDNS for ABC Go

ABC Go is the streaming service for the popular American TV channel ABC (American Broadcasting Company). They are one of the big three original channels in the US. Because of it’s status, ABC has some great programming, and is actually free providing you register for free and sign in. Of course, they are supported by advertising. ABC Go is restricted to those in the United States.  They use a technology called geo-blocking to redetermine your location.  You can watch ABC Go and hundreds of other channels from anywhere in the world by using Smart DNS.

ABC has some very long running shows, as well as some brand new shows that are sure to catch your attention. Great shows like General Hospital, 20/20, and Good Morning America. Let’s take a look at some of the wonderful shows on ABC, and some of the ones coming up.

Grey’s Anatomy – A medical dramedy that began in 2005, this highly rated show is entering it’s 11th season.

The Muppets – This show is a highly anticipated reworking of Jim Henson’s The Muppet Show from the 1970s. Many people are excited to see this show.

Shark Tank – This show is the American take on a show with world wide popularity, Dragon’s Den.

20/20 – This popular news magazine debuted in 1978. It has long been known as a show that goes behind the scenes.

The View – This Women’s hosted show has become so popular, it has international versions. It is currently entering it’s 19th year.

There are many more shows they have, and if you would like to take a look at them, they are here. As you can see,  there is quite a bit of remarkable programming no matter what genre you wish to see. Whether it is women’s content, comedies, family, dramas or anything else, ABC has it. The catch is, if you are traveling outside the US or you live outside the US, you will encounter a message that says “You appear to be outside the United States or its territories. Due to international rights agreements, we only offer this video to viewers located within the United States and its territories.” That is why you would need a SmartDNS.

So what does a SmartDNS do? That part is simple. The SmartDNS service allows you to gain access to channels that would normally be restricted outside the targeted zone. That means if you try to access videos on ABC.com outside of the targeted area, you would be blocked with the message you just saw. That could be a problem if you were trying to watch any of the shows we mentioned.

Let’s take a look at other potential uses for a SmartDNS. Netflix is the first example that comes to mind . As you may or may not be aware, some online streaming services have different libraries for different regions, or they may use geo-restrictions and everyone outside of a targeted area is restricted from seeing certain content.  That is certainly the case with Netflix. With a SmartDNS, you could connect to your home region and watch the library you would normally watch, or, if you wanted to access content from a different market, you could do that as well.

The same could be said for using All 4 or BBC iPlayer from the UK. Both of these streaming services are offered free of charge to UK residents. If you aren’t in the UK and wanted to explore either option, you can’t do that without a SmartDNS. What that would do is intercept your IP data, and give it an IP address that would be located in the UK. Why should you have to miss out on great programming just because of your location?

Another popular streaming service is called Pandora. It is a music streaming service that will allow you to stream your favorite music, but also will make musical suggestions based on many different criteria, and it does this all for free. Since Pandora is only available in 3 countries, if you are  traveling or live outside of those countries, you would be blocked without a SmartDNS.

Though there are more services, and more popping up every day, we will wrap this up with HBO Now. Because of some great programming decisions, HBO Now launched just before the new season of the popular show was released, Game of Thrones. Of course, Game of Thrones has only 13 episodes a season and is over far too quickly for most. Since the stand alone streaming service HBO Now is only available in the US, you could see it outside with a SmartDNS.

And there you have it. With a SmartDNS, you would simply set it up the first time to watch ABC.com online,  and not worry about it again unless you wanted to switch regions. The best SmartDNS companies like the selections listed above, will help you unblock geo-restrictions for popular US channels like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Instant Video, HBO NOW, Showtime, CBS All Access, Sling TV, ABC.com, and many more.
