Watch Narcos on Netflix from Anywhere

Narcos is a new crime drama on Netflix, and is part of their original programming. The series is based on the life of the famous Colombian drug kingpin, Pablo Escobar. It is scheduled to run for ten episodes, but it is unknown if it will conclude there. The show is available in all Netflix regions, but if you are in an area that does not have Netflix yet or plan to travel, you could use Smart DNS to unblock the geo-restrictions.

Narcos

This show portrays an interesting take on the life story of Pablo Escobar. Beginning in the late ’70s, it shows how an enterprising chemist taught him how much money could be made from this white powder (cocaine). It was long known in the US that the drug was harmful to the public health, but as Escobar smuggled more and more of it in to Miami, there were more than 3200 Cocaine related murders from ’79-’84. The story creators come with the idea that the billions of dollars flowing out of the US is what finally got the attention of the US government.

The show is narrated by fictional DEA agent, Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook). Escobar is played by Brazillian actor, Wagner Moura. His similarities in appearance to Escobar are almost uncanny. To look at a side by side comparison of the two, one might assume they were at least brothers.

This show is quite well done. Netflix spares no expense to get the details accurate in this show. Their approach is almost mind-numbing and is certainly heavy with detail. As with anything they do, original programming always has a high budget. They take the time to interlace the show with actual footage of Escobar along with speeches from Ronald and Nancy Reagan, as well as others.

That said, the beginning of this show feels more like a documentary than a crime drama. It humanizes Escobar, but at the same time, it shows his ruthlessness. This is not the first series to exhibit this formula. A recent example of that is the HBO series, Boardwalk Empire. Another example would be movies like The Godfather.

If you are in a country that does not have Netflix yet, and you have a subscription, you could check out this wonderful show. That is also the case with the other series we just mentioned, Boardwalk Empire. You would need a subscription to Sling TV or HBO Now, but you would be able to see that series as well, and many many more. Let’s take a look at how to do that.

How to Watch Narcos from Anywhere

First, you’ll need a Smart DNS service or VPN and a subsciption to Netflix to watch Narcos from anywhere. Because you will be streaming video, you want to make sure the SmartDNS can unblock Netflix in this case.  The last thing you want to do is try to watch the show from outside of a Netflix region and receive the message “This content is not available in your location”. Having that happen is never fun, but if you were planning on curling up on your couch or sitting in your computer chair to see what the show is about, getting that message would be irritating.

The Smart DNS providers listed above offer free trials. These trials are open to all new members and do not require any method of payment. Our companies feel you should be able to take their services for a test drive before you buy. All it requires is for you to enter your email address and you may test out their services free of charge. That should give you ample time to watch Narcos and test other channels available.

Unblock-Us

We recommend using Unblock-Us for streaming videos. The service is pretty easily set up and is very reliable. They have a full list of channels and supported devices as well. You can use the service on your PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android, game console, media player and more. Unblock-Us was one of the first Smart DNS services to launch and has built up a great reputation. We prefer Unblock-Us because they consistently work well, and we never have any problems with their service.

If you wanted to add a layer of encryption to your activity, we suggest OverPlay. That is because they offer VPN access in addition to their Smart DNS service. However, you don’t really need a VPN to get around geo-restrictions. Of course a VPN will work for that purpose, but there is a cost factor and just overkill for  unblocking geo-restrictions. Also, some content providers like Hulu will block VPNs from being used on their sites. That said, a VPN is a good choice for those who want an encrypted connection.
