PGA Tour Live OTT Service Launches

The Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) is set to launch their new over-the-top (OTT) streaming service later this week.  The new PGA Tour Live service will debut on Thursday with live streams of two select groups for the Thursday and Friday rounds of the Quicken Loans National tournament.  This will mark the first time the PGA has stepped into the OTT arena in a big way.  Streaming featured groups in the first two days of tournaments will give golf fans live access to early round coverage.

PGA Tour Live

Let’s start with some more details on the PGA Tour Live streaming service.  There isn’t much information out there yet but we’ll gladly share what we know so far.  PGA Tour Live will launch this Thursday with the first round of the Quickens Loans National at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia, just outside Washington DC.  The tournament is hosted by Tiger Woods and benefits the Tiger Woods Foundation.

PGA Tour Live subscribers will get live streaming coverage of two select groups in the first two rounds of tournaments throughout the season.  This week PGA Tour Live will feature the following groups:

  • Thursday – Rickie Fowler. Ben Crane, James Hahn
  • Thursday – K. J. Choi, Danny Lee, John Senden
  • Friday – Tiger Woods, Bill Haas, Nick Watney
  • Friday – Justin Rose, Jimmy Walker, David Lingmerth

The new PGA Tour Live streaming service will cost $4.99 a month.  You can visit the site but they aren’t accepting sign ups yet.  With the first round of the Quicken Loans National and the debut of the service just two days away we assume the PGA will open the site for sign ups very soon.  In the meantime you can leave your email address to receive more information.

Thursday will mark the first time the PGA has live streamed big names in the early rounds.  They have streamed some later round action in the past but they follow groups that are out of the running.  In this case you can follow some of golf’s greatest players as they compete in early round action.  As the service launches we’re hopeful the PGA will expand it to more groups and rounds.  It would be great to watch your favorite golfer play week in and week out without missing a stroke.  That day isn’t here yet but it’s getting closer with PGA Tour Live.
