Penn State Adds Free Live Sports Streaming

Penn State sports are a big draw not only for students in State College, Pennsylvania, but also for fans around the world.  The University is opening up their athletics program to everyone worldwide by adding free online streaming of sporting event including broadcasts of football, basketball, hockey, and wrestling.  The free live audio and video streaming will be available from their GoPSUsports.com website.  It does not appear the broadcasts will be geo-restricted in any way.

In addition to live streaming, the GoPSUsports.com website has been redesigned to give sports fans a better online experience.  Fans will be able to purchase game worn jerseys at a fixed price.  The James Franklin weekly press conference and Penn State Coaches Show will also be streamed free of charge through the site.  Penn State fans from around the world can now stay connected to the athletics program without living close to State College or paying a monthly fee for streaming access.

It’s great to see a major sports school like Penn State add free streaming for fans.  What about those who follow other teams?  Cable and satellite subscribers have access to premium streaming services like WatchESPN.  You can also look to Sling TV for access to ESPN, ESPN2, SEC Network and a number of other sports networks that will help you gain live access to games.  The key is finding which service will broadcast your school’s athletic events.  Since football and basketball are the most televised sports, they are trpically easier to find than other events.

Penn State will kick off their 2015 football season at Temple on September 5th.  The Nittany Lions will play their first home game in State College on September 12th against Buffalo.  I’m looking forward to the primetime matchup between Penn State and Ohio State on October 17th.  That game will take place in Columbus.  Every PSU football game will be streamed on GoPSUsports.com so you can listen to Steve Jones call the action on Saturday’s this Fall, even if you’re well outside of State College.  All you’ll need is a high-speed internet connection.
