Pandora Offers 99 Cent Ad-Free Pass

Pandora fans have a lot to look forward to this week.  First of all, Pandora will be celebrating their 10th anniversary on Wednesday, September 9th by opening up the site to ad-free listening all day.  Then on Thursday, September 10th they will start offering $0.99 single day ad-free music passes.  Instead of paying $4.99 a month for ad-free access, you will also have the option to purchase a day pass for 99 cents.  Depending on how often you listen the new one day plan could be a better deal than a monthly subscription.

Pandora 99 cent pass

The competition has really heated up this year as Apple Music launched earlier this summer.  Spotify and Pandora were the big names in the streaming music space for years.  Now they share that limelight with services from Apple, Google, and Amazon.  It will be interesting to see how well each service does as more and more music fans get comfortable with the subscription model.  Pandora is a little different from the other services.  Instead of selecting the exact music you want to listen to, Pandora uses your history and feedback to recommend music.

Pandora launched in September 9, 2005.  It’s hard to believe the popular music streaming service has been around for ten years.  To celebrate the big event, Pandora is making the service ad-free for the day.  That will give an estimated 100+ million users ad-free access without paying a dime.  Then on Thursday, Pandora will roll out their new one day pass.  The pass is priced similarly to songs on iTunes at $0.99.  It really depends on how often you listen to music on Pandora.  If you listen more than five days a month and want ad-free service, then their $4.99 monthly subscription makes more sense.  However, if you use the service infrequently, then the $0.99 one day pass is a good choice.

Pandora is only available to users in the United States, Australia, and New Zealand.  If you live or plan to travel outside those areas, then I would suggest using Smart DNS.  A good SmartDNS service will help you access Pandora from anywhere in the world.  It will also open geo-blocks for other popular streaming services including Spotify, Netflix, and Hulu.
