Lifetime Launches Streaming Service

Lifetime quietly launched a video streaming service earlier today.  Aptly named Lifetime Movie Club, the streaming service will give members access to watch Lifetime movies anytime.  We like some of the features.  Unlike Hulu and CBS All Access, Lifetime Movie Club will be commercial free.  You will no longer need a cable or satellite service to enjoy your favorite Lifetime movies anytime.  The new Lifetime Movie Club streaming service is available for $3.99 a month.

Lifetime Movie Club

What can you expect from Lifetime Movie Club?  For starters you can sign up and try the new video streaming service free for 7 days.  Their free trial will give you full access to the service.  The only snag is device support.  Lifetime Movie Club is only available for Apple devices.  You can try it on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch.  It seems odd that they wouldn’t support streaming in your web browser but the site only lists support for iOS devices.

We’re guessing the lack of support for a wider range of devices might be one reason that Lifetime is quietly launching the service.  I’m sure they will be adding support for more devices as time goes on.  We’re just happy to see Lifetime join the list of channels offering cord cutters another option to enjoy their content.  This isn’t the first time Lifetime has given streaming services access to their movies.  You can watch the Lifetime channel live through Sling TV.  Lifetime Movie Club will be great for binge watching movies from the network.

Lifetime is owned by A + E Networks.  The same company owns a number of other television networks including A&E, History, Lifetime Movie Network (LMN), fyi, H2, Crime + Investigation (ci), Military History, Lifetime Real Women (LRM), and History en Espanol.  The question is how many of the A + E Network owned channels will introduce stand-alone streaming services in the months to come.  We hope a successful launch of the Lifetime Movie Club will give their team the necessary experience to continue the transition to their own platforms.
