Watch the IndyCar Series Live Online

The Verizon IndyCar series is the North American premier open wheel racing series, and is celebrating it’s 20th year.  In 2016, the season begins on March 13th, and runs through the summer, ending with the final race on September 18th. There are several different coverage options for watching the races. If you are in the US during the races, you can watch them on online. If not, you would need to use a SmartDNS service

Indy 500

One of the most famous races in the USA is the Indianapolis 500.  In fact, 2016 marks the 105th running of the race. Think of all the generations that have watched this race in person, on TV, or even on the radio.  Since the race is always run around Memorial Day weekend, many in the US look forward to the race, because it represents the beginning of Summer.

In 1996, the IndyCar Series began as a competitor to the CART series, the name for the top tier open wheel racing in the US. After some legal issues, the CART series folded in 2008, leaving the Indy Racing league to be the top tier.  The changes were announced by the CEO of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Tony George. The new rules moved to a chassis that was less expensive, and production based engines, vs the turbo charged engines that had been a part of open wheel racing since the 70s. Those statements effectively outlawed the old standards.

Let’s take a look at the stations and locations that will be covering the races around the world.

  • United States – NBCSN, ABC
  • United Kingdom – BT Sport
  • Portugal – Sport TV
  • Canada – TVA Sports, SportsNet

Of course, you will need to check your local listings. If you are located outside of these areas, or you are traveling, trying to watch the races could be troublesome. Some of these channels may be free to watch if you are in the area, others may not be. You will have to check specifically.  With some of the services, you may need to have a subscription as well. Here is the way to begin.

Best Smart DNS to Watch the IndyCar Series

There are  a few Smart DNS services to choose from.  For streaming live sporting events, the company should be reliable and be able to unblock the channels you plan to watch. You don’t want to get ready to watch an IndyCar race, and not have access to it. Receiving a restricted access message is not fun, and can be irritating if you are trying to watch a race. With some of the most historic auto racing, why should you have to miss anything? Here are some SmartDNS services that will handle the job.

The Smart DNS providers listed above offer free trials. The trials are open to all new members and do not require any payment information. The companies understand you need time to test their services. Just enter your email address and test out the services free of charge. The free trial will give you plenty of time to watch the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg (the first race) and test other channels.

we enjoy using Unblock-Us for live events. The service is easy to set up and is quite reliable. They have a full list of channels along with supported devices. You can use the service on your PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android, game console, media player and more.  Unblock-Us was one of the first Smart DNS services to launch and has built up a great reputation. Unblock-Us is our favorite because it’s always consistent.  We have yet to encounter an issue with their service.

For those who want to add privacy protection, we suggest OverPlay. They offer VPN access in addition to Smart DNS, but you don’t need a VPN if you only want to unblock geographic restrictions. A VPN will work for that purpose, but it’s more expensive and overkill for unblocking geo-restrictions. Additionally, some content providers like Hulu try to block VPN’s from accessing their sites. However, a VPN is a good choice for those who want an encrypted connection.

You don’t have to miss any of the races in the series, simply by using a SmartDNS service.  Watch on your TV, phone, tablet, game console or even media player. Please share our post with your friends so they can enjoy the races as well. Follow us @SmartDNSFan for the latest deals and Smart DNS guides.
