Apple Music Fans Await iTunes 12.2 Update

Today is the day many music fans having been not so patiently waiting for as Apple launches their new Apple Music service.  The roll out was set to take place at 11:00 am EST when Apple released iOS 8.4.  That appeared to go off without a hitch.  However, those users who want to listen to the new streaming service on their Mac or Windows PC are still waiting for iTunes to be updated to version 12.2  As of 2:45 pm EST Apple has still not released the update.  This is leaving many to wonder when the update is coming and rightfully asking why Apple didn’t push it out in the days leading up to the launch.

Will it matter in the long run?  Probably not but it’s never good to frustrate users, especially those who are waiting to try the new Apple Music streaming service on launch day.  Those are the users you want to turn into fans to go out and tout the service to their family and friends.  We hope to see the iTunes update roll out soon.  It’s now 3:00 pm EST and still no update.

There are certainly other options for listening to Apple Music on launch day.  As we previously mentioned, iOS 8.4 was ready to update promptly at 11:00 am EST.  It took a little time as expected but after iOS 8.4 was installed we were easily able to sign up.  In case you’re wondering how to sign up for the free 90 day trial of Apple Music we’ll walk you through the process.

How to Sign Up for the Apple Music Free Trial

We assume in the hours to come you will be able to sign up through iTunes.  For now you have the option of signing up from your iPhone or iPad device running the new iOS 8.4 update.  To do so simply tap on the “Music” icon at the bottom of the screen.  That will bring you directly to the free trial signup screens.

The screen to the left is shown first.  Apple gives a brief introduction to the advantages of the service.  To move forward simply tap on the “Start 3 Month Free Trial” button.  That will take you to the second screen shown above where you will choose a plan.  The plan will take effect after the 90 day free trial period.  You can sign up for an “Individual” plan for $9.99 a month or the “Family” plan with up to 6 users for $14.99 a month.  Tap on whichever plan you prefer and your Apple Music trial will begin.

Best of luck to all those waiting for the new iTunes 12.2 update to be released.  We feel your pain and look forward to trying the new Apple Music service when the software is available.  In the meantime fire up your iOS device and give the new streaming music service a listen.
