Google Launches YouTube for Gamers

August 26, 2015 update – no more need to wait as the new Youtube for Gamers is now live.  Visit gaming.youtube.com to view live streams of your favorite video games.

Gamers from around the world will be interested in the latest announcement from YouTube.  Google plans to launch a YouTube application and site for gamers aptly named YouTube Gaming.  The site and app will launch this summer in the United States and United Kingdom.  You can expect more information to be released this week at E3. If you happen to live in a country that censors or blocks your access to YouTube I would suggest a Smart DNS service.

YouTube Gaming

From what I’ve seen so far the new YouTube Gamers has a lot of promise.  I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see a lot of gamers shift from Twitch over to the new YouTube Gaming site.  The site promises an easy to use interface.  It will launch with over 25,000 games.  Each of which will have it’s own page with videos and live streams.  I can’t wait to check it out.  As an FFXI and more recently more recently FFXIV gamer I really looking forward to the new YouTube for Gamers.

YouTube Gaming will stream at 60fps, include a DVR feature, and will automatically covert your gaming streams into YouTube videos.  The best feature is something totally new.  Gamers will no longer need to schedule ahead of time for live events.  YouTube will provide a single link that you can share for all your streams.  Those who subscribe to your channel will get notification as soon as you start the live stream.

YouTube Gaming is set to launch this summer in the US and UK.  Google is expected to share more details on the site at E3 this week.  If you’re attending the conference you can visit their booth for a sneak peak.  Tune into the YouTube E3 channel for the latest news and updates.
