Best SmartDNS for ITV

ITV is an independent commercial TV station located in the UK. It is designated officially as channel 3 to delineate itself from BBC1, BBC2, and Channel 4, and was created to compete with the BBC. The ITV Player is the online version of their channel. Launched in 1955, ITV is the oldest commercial station in the UK. As long as you are logged in to their site, you watch many wonderful shows for free, but they are supported by commercials. That said, there is a premium version that is commercial free, and is offered for £3.99 a month. The catch is, you have to to be located in the UK. Of course, if you are traveling outside or living outside the UK, you could use Smart DNS to watch ITV.

From Coronation Street to X Factor, and Freeze Out to Plebs, ITV has some great shows. Let’s take a look at some of them.

  • Coronation Street – One of the oldest and most famous British soap operas, it first aired in 1960.
  • X Factor  – This show’s executive producer is Simon Cowell. This show became so popular, it was re done in other countries.
  • Freeze Out  – This show is a quiz show that is judged by retired football referee, Uriah Rennie. Rennie is referred to as the ice judge because of his famously icy personality.
  • Plebs –   This popular show follows the lives of three desperate young men from the lower classes of ancient Rome. It takes a different approach than people are used to seeing, therefore making the show popular.

There are many other shows available that we have not listed, but they may be found here. Clearly, there are many great hours to be viewed via the ITV Player. Whether it is comedies, family, children, dramas, or anything else, ITV has it. The problem is, if you are traveling outside the UK or you live outside the UK, you will see a message that says “ITV player is only available to viewers in the UK. If you want to watch in Europe, you may be able to use our ITV Eessentials service, which offers our top pick of shows in selected countries.” That is why you would need a SmartDNS.

So what is SmartDNS? That is the easy part. The SmartDNS service allows you to gain access to channels that would normally be blocked outside of a specific zone. That means if you try to watch videos on ITV.com and you are outside of the UK, you would see the message we just posted. That could be a hassle, if you wanted to watch any of the shows we mentioned.

Here are some other suggestions for SmartDNS uses. For this example, we will use Netflix. In case you don’t know, some online streaming services have different libraries for different regions. That is definitely what is happening with Netflix. They may use geo-restrictions and everyone outside of a specific area is restricted from seeing things on that channel. With a SmartDNS, you could connect to your home region and watch the library you would normally watch, or if you wanted to watch things from a different market, you have that option.

The same could be said for using All 4 or BBC iPlayer. Those streaming services are offered free of charge, as long as you are in the UK . If you aren’t there and wanted to explore either option, you would need a SmartDNS. What that does is intercept your IP data, and give it an IP address located in the UK that works for the channel. Now, you don’t have to miss out on great programming just because of your location.

Consider also the popular music streaming service, Pandora. From there, you can stream your favorite music, but the service also will make musical suggestions based on many different criteria, and it does this all for free. Since Pandora is only available in 3 countries, if you are traveling or not there, you would be blocked unless you use a SmartDNS service.

As we see more and more streaming options, we will finish this with HBO Now. You could check out Ballers, The Brink, or even Game of Thrones. HBO likes to make short seasons of shows to keep subscribers coming back. If you are a thronehead, GoT is over far to quickly for you. Since this popular stand alone streaming service, HBO Now, is only available in the US, you could use a SmartDNS and watch it from anywhere.
